Grants for LTISD Schools
Since its inception and through the generosity of donors,
the Lake Travis Education Foundation has awarded grant funding to Lake
Travis ISD schools in excess of $2.4 million, making learning come
alive for thousands of students. LTEF’s Board of Directors
will continue to solicit the support of the community to raise more
funds in the year ahead, with a goal of awarding increased grant
funding each year. In an effort to make a greater impact within the Lake
Travis ISD, the LTEF Board of Directors recently revised its
grant process. Beginning with the 2012-2013 school year, each
campus was allocated an amount of grant funding based on student
enrollment. This new process provides for equal distribution
of funds and the ability to make a greater impact through larger
grants versus many small individual classroom level grants. How will the application process work?
Once fundraising events for the school year have concluded,
the Lake Travis Education Foundation will notify school principals
of the funding amount available for grant awards. This total
funding amount will be split amongst campuses on a per student
basis. Overseen by the principal, each campus will determine the
best use of the funding and submit grant requests using the
application provided by LTEF. The Lake Travis ISD Curriculum and Instructional Services
Department will review the submitted applications to ensure the
requests meet Lake Travis ISD curriculum and technology standards.
Once approved, Curriculum and Instructional Services will meet with
the LTEF Grant Committee to discuss the applications, and the LTEF
Grant Committee will make funding recommendations to LTEF’s Board of
Directors. Awards will be announced following approval by the
Board. Once grant funding has been approved by LTEF, and funds
disbursed to the Lake Travis ISD Business Office, the Lake Travis
Education Foundation relinquishes responsibility for the items
funded. The Foundation will not be responsible for tracking or
replacing items once purchased, nor will the Foundation be held
liable for the use of any funded items or programs. Funding will be used solely for the items or program
detailed in the approved grant proposal, unless approval to augment
or change the request is granted by the Lake Travis Education
Foundation. Any funds that are not used for the approved grants will
be returned to LTEF for future awards. The Lake Travis Education Foundation looks forward to
implementing this new process and awarding grants throughout the
district. We envision our donors appreciating the fact that
the amount each school receives will be equitable and your donations
to LTEF will have a direct effect on your schools. We thank our district’s teachers for their dedication to
the students of the Lake Travis Independent School District and look
forward to continuing to support their efforts. |
