Named Scholarships
The Lake
Travis Education Foundation is a 501c3 organization and, as such,
donations to the organization are tax deductible.
Named Honorary/Memorial
Scholarships may be established in the name of one or more individuals.
Not all memorial donations, however, must be set up in a named fund -
you may simply request memorials to the Foundation in memory of a loved
one.
LEGACY SCHOLARSHIPS
Jean Drysdale Memorial Scholarship -
Jean Drysdale was a tennis instructor at the World of Tennis and a
resident of Lakeway. She
was a prime mover in starting the
Lake Travis Youth Association, introducing
children to soccer and tennis and later helping to expand the
program to baseball and track.
Sandi Hanson Memorial Scholarship
- Sandi Hanson grew up in Texas, and attended high school in the
Austin area. She was involved in the founding of the Lake
Travis Youth Association in 1981.
Sandi had a passion for British literature, and began volunteering
at Lake Travis High School as a guest speaker in language arts
classes, and with the UIL academic competition at Lake Travis
Elementary. She also wanted the youth of Lake Travis to experience
theatre arts, and initiated summer theatrical productions. In 1984,
Sandi and her dear friend, Jean Drysdale, directed and produced
“Cleopatra” at Lake Travis High School.
Ben Perkins Memorial Scholarship
- Ben Perkins
graduated from Lake Travis High School as Valedictorian of the Class
of 1986. His academic and numerous other
achievements brought credit to this school and this community. Ben’s
positive influence on others is remembered today.
Trevor Searle
Memorial Scholarship -
Trevor Searle lived every moment of his young life fully.
He was an Eagle Scout with a strong commitment to family and
community. Trevor was an
accomplished musician and part of the band, AXIS.
He has a zeal for life and loved extreme “Red Bull” sports
such as snowboarding, wakeboarding, big air events, and anything
with a sense of adventure and challenge.
In 2011, while in his senior year at Lake Travis High School,
Trevor left behind a school and community who had benefited from
knowing him and his zest for life.
He was a loyal friend to all. These scholarships will be awarded to
well-rounded, fun-loving students who are athletic, adventurous,
committed to community, family and spirituality, and willing to take
the road less traveled.
CAVALIER SCHOLARSHIPS
Kesley Aydam Memorial
Scholarship -
When Kesley Aydam left
this world suddenly in February, 2011, he left behind a community of
friends. Kesley was an entrepreneur and a man of many talents.
He and his wife of 20 years, Anne, lived in Lake Travis along with
daughter Haley, a 2010 graduate of LTHS. A loving and involved
husband and father, Kesley’s proudest moments were attending Haley's
equestrian, scholastic, and sporting activities. Haley
received the Women’s Club of Greater Lakeway scholarship through
LTEF upon her high school graduation, and the Aydam family wanted
future graduates to be acknowledged for their efforts.
The Kesley Aydam Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to
well-rounded students who have shown involvement and leadership in
several activities at LTHS.
"Amazing Grace
Scholarship" in memory of Gracy Peyton Massey -
In 2005, a beautiful little girl, Grace Peyton Massey, was taken
from her family and friends far too quickly.
In her honor, the “Amazing Grace” Memorial Scholarship was
founded. The Lake Travis
Education Foundation is honored to award this scholarship to a
student who others would describe as always facing life’s struggles
with “amazing grace.”
Rachel Ann Maurer
Memorial Scholarship -
Rachel Maurer was incredibly artistic,
insightful, and funny. Her physical strength was
evident on the soccer field and her academic abilities and artistic
gifts were nurtured in Lake Travis schools from Kindergarten on to
high school. Rachel’s talent and love of life,
friends, and family were immense. The Rachel
Maurer Memorial Scholarships are awarded to students who have
excelled in athletics or art.
Carla McDonald Memorial Scholarship - Carla McDonald was a resident of Lakeway for over 16 years, before
passing away suddenly in September of 2009. A wife, mother, friend
and entrepreneur, Carla was passionate about helping others. She was
a tireless volunteer in our schools, our community and her church,
and served as a director of the Lake Travis Education Foundation.
Carla never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone. Lake Travis
is a better place because of her legacy of love. The
Carla McDonald Memorial Scholarships are awarded annually to female
students who have shown unselfish support of school and community.
Ella Kate Moore "Moore Love" Scholarship -
Ella Kate Moore embraced life with a kindness and generosity
that knew no bounds. She was an amazing mother, a homeroom mom for
her childrens' classes, and a member of many community service
projects including the LTEF and several organizations that directly
benefited women in business. She felt she was put on this earth to
help others, and there wasn't a day in her life—even while fighting
cancer—that she wasn't doing something to help someone else. Ella
was proof that kindness can spread like wildfire. She provided the
spark. Her love for her community and fellow man has led to the
development of this scholarship in her honor. The student who best
embodies the spirit of giving, service, and love for the community
will receive this prestigious award.
